Is Your Xbox Broken? Consider Fixing Your Xbox Yourself Before You Send It Back

If you were in the middle of playing your Xbox and you encountered the Red Rings of Death, you are not alone. It is estimated that over 16% of Xboxes fail at some point. In fact, Microsoft even extended the warranty from one to three years because there were so many problems. But even though Microsoft will gladly fix your Xbox, it doesn’t change the fact that it takes 4 to 6 weeks to get it back from them. Plus not everything is covered by the extended warranty. So what should you do if you don’t want to wait to get your Xbox back from the repair center? Should you try to fix it yourself?

When did you buy your Xbox? If it was less than a year ago, it is definitely still under warranty. And for certain problems, Microsoft extended the manufacturer’s warranty to three years. So before you crack open your Xbox to fix it yourself, make sure that it isn’t covered. Or make sure that you don’t care about the warranty. If you bought the extra store warranty, then don’t do anything to void that. Take your Xbox back to the store and exchange it.

Weigh the pros and cons of fixing your Xbox on your own. Are you pretty good with fixing electronics? Can you follow directions? If you are too afraid to fix your Xbox at home, then there is no harm in just sending it back to have it repaired. Don’t waste your time and energy buying tools to fix it if you would feel better sending it back.

Three, you need to find a great repair guide about how to fix your Xbox. Don’t just go out and buy the first one you see. Look for reviews, and find one that has video or detailed pictures. There are some great manuals online that won’t cost much, but be careful to find one that has good reviews from people who have actually used it.

When your Xbox stops working, it is easy to get caught up in the frustration and want it fixed immediately. Just make sure to use your head if you decide to fix your Xbox yourself. If you aren’t confident in your ability to fix it, just send it in. You can always rent an Xbox from your local game store and play that while you are waiting to get your Xbox back from the repair center.

The Superior Video Game Console

If you have done any research, you will kknow that console systems are taking over the PC. The PC, although fast and capable, is not the preferred way to play video games today. Why exactly is this? The answer lies in the proof, the consoles are faster, have better controllers, and offer network features that make it easy to pair up with a friend or stranger on line and play your favorite game.

An important reason that games are better on a console than a PC is that it is easier to play with another person on a console versus a PC. The reason for this is that a video console system plugs directly into your TV, which is usually bigger than a small PC monitor, which makes for easy playing with another person in the comfort of your own living room.

The third and biggest reason why consoles do so well is that the game selection is much better for console systems. Lets take the PS3 for example. In 2009, the game of the year was Uncharted 2 Drake’s Fortune. This game alone sums up why the console market is better than the PC. This game is amazing! The story telling was unmatched by any game, not to mention the graphics and music were stunning. The multiplayer is also hands down one of the best experiences out there as far as modern video games go.

The Xbox360 is also a great candidate with some amazing games like the HALO series as well as games like Assassins Creed 2. These games have amazing visuals with super high frame rates that cannot be matched with a PC system.

With the PS4 being scheduled to come out in 2012, many people who want to get into the video gaming world should go ahead and feel comfortable buying the gaming systems of today. The trend is continuing to favor the consoles over the PC, so go ahead and ditch the PC and start enjoying video games the way they were meant to be enjoyed.

Xbox Stands Out Among Gaming Consoles

The Xbox 360 is getting old. That is to say, in the rapidly advancing field of home video gaming it’s pretty much become the senior member. Released back in 2005, Microsoft’s follow up to its overwhelmingly successful original Xbox is now the oldest game console of what can be considered the current generation. The other two big players, Sony and Nintendo, both released their competing consoles at least a year after Microsoft. But is it still the best choice in gaming systems? Many would say it is.

The Xbox 360 came to the arena prepared to leave a lasting mark and to make sure the world knew that the second Xbox was going to hold its own against any and all competition. Sony already had the Playstation 1 and the Playstation 2 on the market, with development for Playstation 3 underway. Unfortunately for Sony, Microsoft beat them to the release date and contained fewer bugs.

The Wii is a unique gaming experience, that’s for sure. No one can argue that it offers something cool and allows you to play games in a way you’ve never done before. Okay, some people will argue against that and many will tell you the whole Wii controller is just ridiculous, but let’s leave these varying opinions to the wayside for now.

There are games on all three of the main consoles that compete directly with one another. Whatever Microsoft and Sony want to claim, if someone owns all three consoles but chooses to buy a certain game on Wii instead of the others, then it’s competition no matter how you draw it.

The games that are available to the Xbox 360 are far more advanced from a graphic point of view than those available for the Wii. They can also be designed to be more in depth and faster moving because the Xbox platform is just so powerful. In fact, many third party game designers can’t or simply don’t bother trying to put certain games on the Wii because it just won’t do what they want.

Whether it was the fault of the Wii or the fact that people just didn’t want it, the PS 3 didn’t sell well. This means less people are using it which means a lot of the gaming experience that the Xbox 360 and PS 3 are built around are simply better with the former. With the online gaming world, for instance, would you rather play the games amongst a fan base of 30 million people with the Xbox, or less than 15 million with the PS 3?

Until there comes a time when there is a clear-cut, winning console in the gaming world, there is always going to be personal opinions as to what machine is better. It may be just a slight difference of better suited controllers or it might be the colors that encase the machine. Any way you look at it, gaming comes down to a choice.

Hardcore games will always argue the pros and cons of the various systems. But if you’re a fan of the Xbox 360, you can find out more at Gizmos, Gadgets and Toys.
