1. When going out to farm, you need to pick the right type of monsters to kill. These will have to be the humanoid ones. They have the richest loot tables and also bigger chances to drop valuable items. The trick here is to kill a lot of them so that you will make money from simply selling many cheap items and with a bit of luck, some valuable ones too. So make sure you find the right levels mobs, not too high because they are harder to kill, but not too low either.

2. All you need now is a spot with loads of mobs to kill. Public Quest locations tend to have a large concentration if mobs around them which are mostly humanoids. Some encounters can even be kept at the first stage so that you can keep farming the mobs without having to wait for the encounter to reset. Mobs around these encounters also drop a lot of stuff, so you can expect some nice money to come out of it.

3. In order to use your time the best way, it is better to go farming when your are at a higher level, at least in Tier 3. That’s when you have a much larger inventory so you won’t have to destroy anything. It is better to go sell everything every 10 minutes than destroy items.

I always liked the Tolkien books and I’ve seen the Lord of the Rings trilogy many times. I also heard about the game and I kept my eye on it. Sadly I didn’t have the time to start playing when it got officially released. I wasn’t able to join the community until after an year. I didn’t think that would be a problem as people level up characters all the time. I didn’t want to play alone and I knew I would need people around me so I could ask question and such. So once I was finally free to try the game, I got a copy and so I did.

The beginning of the game was very nice. The little tutorial at the very beginning helped me get a feel for the game. It also threw me right into the story. I was very impressed with the graphics, sounds and music of the game. Once I cleared the starter zone, which took me several days, I started advancing. Not long after that, problems started appearing. There were so many quests and such big areas that I didn’t know where to go and which quest to start with.

I kept going none the less hoping that things will get better. As I was trying to level up, I kept feeling like what I was doing was wrong. I was leaving a lot of stuff undone. Asking people for help didn’t really work because after a few questions, they start ignoring you. One day someone told me about a LOTRO leveling guide, he said that it would help me a lot.
